Volleyball Court Drainage
The unique qualities of volleyball courts lend themselves to drainage challenges all their own.
Generally, sports field drainage contractors are installing drainage systems underneath grass or turf fields. Hydraway is excellent for these applications but is also the perfect system to match the challenges of outdoor volleyball courts. Volleyball courts are, after all, often composed of sand, which presents a few unique drainage challenges like clogging.
One of the largest benefits of Hydraway drainage systems is that they are extremely resistant to clogging. Constructed with needle-punctured fabric that is thermally bonded to a molded polyethylene core, no other system blocks the intake of silt, dirt, and, of course, sand as well as Hydraway. Traditional perforated pipe systems will inevitably begin to fill with their surrounding material, facilitating standing water on the surface and erosion below. Hydraway, on the other hand, blocks soil and sand particles to keep your court intact.
Clogging isn’t the only problem conventional perforated pipe systems suffer from. As a function of their design, they simply can’t take in as much water as is necessary to properly eliminate standing water or handle substantial weather events. While clogging stops water from moving through the system once it has already made its way inside, limited inflow rates mean there is always going to be water surrounding the pipe as it drains down from the surface.
Hydraway is different. Our system has industry-leading inflow rates while offering clog resistance other athletic field drainage systems could never match. When these two features are combined, you have a system that preserves sand volleyball courts and other surfaces from erosion and environmental factors that can degrade the ability of players to excel and play safely, damage the court itself, or both.
In the end, both of those factors come down to attendance and the money that comes with it. Ticket sales, concessions, and potentially even sponsorships could be at risk without the proper drainage system in place. Hydraway helps to protect the integrity of your volleyball court and the health of the players who compete on it. While Hydraway isn’t the only system that must be in place for you to have a functional facility, it can provide the peace of mind necessary to focus on running a successful facility.
A sports field drainage design is only as good as its lifespan. An incredibly effective system that lasted only a year or a mediocre drainage system that lasts for years are both terrible options. Even worse, conventional systems that exist today are both ineffective and often clog or fail sooner than expected.
Hydraway sets a new bar in drainage. There has never been a reported failure when our systems were properly installed, meaning our partners can have peace of mind. What other systems do you know of that can boast a zero percent failure rate, drainage or otherwise? Volleyball courts, by their very nature, are vulnerable to erosion, and other damage solutions are inadequate if you’re trying to limit repair or replacement costs.
You might expect that all of these benefits come from a complicated drainage solution that is labor intensive, and therefore expensive, to install. This isn’t the case with Hydraway. Our systems are easy to transport to the work site from one of our many distributors around the country and the world. Once they arrive in coils of custom length, it is easy to unroll and drop them into traditional drainage trenches. With no coil memory, no additional steps are necessary to let your new flat strip drain system lay as it is designed.
