Soccer Field Drainage
The drainage solutions Hydraway supplies are specifically designed to maintain play quality and player safety.
More than almost any other sports field, soccer fields have to withstand near-constant punishment from athletes running across their surface. Whether the field is natural or synthetic, Hydraway drainage systems offer a solution that protects the field from damage.
Traditional perforated pipe drainage systems have flaws that have never been corrected throughout the history of drainage technology.
Clogging: Depending on the material pipes are embedded in, clogging can be a major problem, leading to standing water, erosion, and other issues with your field. The tiny holes in perforated pipe systems—while large enough to prevent rocks and other large objects from entering the system—are useless at preventing dirt, silt, and organic matter from entering the pipe. Although this isn’t a huge problem initially, dirt will slow the rate of water through the pipes over time and turn your drainage system into ineffective lengths of plastic under the soil.
Hydraway has solved this problem with innovative design. Our flat drain systems include needle-punctured fabric that is thermally bonded to the drainage system. This fabric filters any debris that could enter the system while allowing water to enter the system unimpeded.
Limited Inflow Rate: If water isn’t able to enter the system quickly enough, it can back up and lead to puddles or subsurface water pockets. This can cause damage to the field because of freezing and thawing along with erosion. Ideally, water is quickly entering the drainage system and is immediately evacuated from your field. Hydraway allows water to enter the system over 70% of its surface area, which is far superior to traditional systems. Click here to watch a video demonstrating Hydraway versus other drainage systems.
Difficult Installation: Traditional perforated pipe systems suffer from a problem known as coil memory. When circular pipe systems are wrapped onto large spools for shipping, they tend to take the shape of the spool. The result is that when laid out into a trench for installation, the ends tend to curve upward instead of lying flat. This requires additional labor to flatten them out, increasing your costs and time to project completion. Hydraway systems come on spools of custom length (up to 2,250 feet), which solves this problem by lying flat as soon as it is laid down.
Sports turf drainage systems have evolved over the years into more than just simple plastic pipes in the ground. Today, field drainage design is critical to maintaining investments in both natural and synthetic turf fields. Proper drainage that maintains soil structure and eliminates surface water buildup can mean the difference between successful sporting events and thousands or more in lost revenue.
When water flows away from your athletic field instead of eroding the soil, this can extend the lifetime of your field by years or more. The drainage systems we supply are effective iSn all types of subsurface materials, from clay soils to gravel-filled trenches. The fact is that Hydraway doesn’t clog and has a 0% failure rate when properly installed.
Failure Rate
From soccer fields in the U.S. to football fields around the world, Hydraway is the common denominator. No other drainage system is as easy to install or has as high of a success rate. Our network of trusted distributors delivers Hydraway systems to your location, wherever that may be, and will help promote quality play on your soccer field.
Professional teams, universities, and more have chosen Hydraway because no other drainage system offers the results we produce. Every canceled game due to rain, each injured player, and every delay caused by erosion-related repairs costs owners and facility managers. When people aren’t showing up to watch games, a field is just a plot of grass.
