“As one of the longest running and most prevalent synthetic turf designers in the Chicago area, we are familiar with all brands of flat drains. In addition, we also utilize flat drains for natural grass drainage. We are very impressed with the Hydraway product line for both synthetic turf and natural grass drainage applications. We have found it to possess much better drainage parameters and to be much more economical than other flat drain products.”
– Jason E. Green – W-T Engineering, Inc.
“Hydraway Drainage System is unparalleled in the drainage market. With its 70% inflow rate, Mid-America Sports Construction recommends this product to any of our customers. Hydraway’s diversity allows for us to use it on synthetic turf and natural grass fields. For us, it’s a no-brainer to recommend and use Hydraway Drainage System.”
– Kirk Grego, Mid-America Sports Construction
“Clark Companies has been installing subsurface drainage systems for many years on both natural and synthetic turf fields and has used all types of systems. When we started using the Hydraway 2000 Subsurface Drainage System, we were immediately impressed by the ease of installation and high compressive strength of the product. These features, coupled with an unsurpassed industry water in-flow rate is why we continue to choose the Hydraway 2000 Subsurface Drainage System over the competition.”
– Scott Clark, President, Clark Companies
“Maumee Bay Turf Center is a quality builder of Synthetic and Natural Turf Fields and we use the Hydraway 2000 drainage system because of the quality that our customers demand. It’s easier to do the job right the first time, rather than taking short cuts with lower quality systems. We like the compressive strengths and the ease of installations. This is by far the best system on the market; we have been very pleased with the performance and quality of the Hydraway systems we use.”
– Brad Morrison, Sportsfield Construction Division, Maumee Bay Turf Center
Not only does Hydraway surpass commercial drain pipe systems with performance, but it is also more affordable to install.
“The reason we use Hydraway 2000 can be summed up in two words, strength and permeability. When we use Hydraway 2000 under our fields, we know that we are using a material that has superior compression strength combined with higher permeability and water flow rates than other products we have used in the past.”
– Charles D. Morris, PE – J.E.M Morris Construction, Inc.
“For several years, we have specified Hydraway products as part of the subsurface drainage design under natural and synthetic athletic fields, utilizing both horizontal and vertical applications. We could not be more pleased with the high quality and performance of the products.”

“As larger construction projects begin to include more sand cap fairways, we are utilizing Hydraway more and more within the golf industry. The cost-effective installation allows us to more efficiently budget tighter spacing required with fairway sand cap installation. The durability of the product also gives us a higher level of comfort with an extended-life drainage system. We recommend the use of Hydraway with all of your sports field and golf drainage projects.”
– Tommy Shook – Eagle Golf & Athletics Inc.
“For my firm, it was great to use such a quality constructed and engineered product because the drainage system will be productive and long-lasting. The high compressed strength and high inflow rate of the Hydraway product were two reasons that it was specified for this project.”
– Richard T. Moffitt – Moffitt and Associates
“In the summer of 2007, we were retained to design a new subsurface drainage system for the LSU lady softball facility, Tiger Park. The system has performed as advertised since the day it was installed. I can recommend this product without hesitation. It performs as advertised and the Hydraway team provides quality products and excellent services to the design and installation professionals.”
– Roy T. Dufreche – Landscape Architect
“There isn’t a single day where I don’t have players coming up to me to remark about how great it is to play on this field now that we have Hydraway installed. Put simply: We don’t have drainage problems anymore. We can get back on the field in record time, and the Hydraway System saved us considerably when compared to the other available options.”
– Seth Thibodeaux, Baseball Head Coach, Nicholls State University
“When it was decided to rebuild our field, the Hydraway® drainage system was a great alternative. It was convenient for retrofitting the field with its high inflow rate and compressive strength during construction. In August 2009, an afternoon thunderstorm arose over the ballpark at 3 pm on game day. By 3:30, the only things visible on the field were the infield and bullpen tarps. At 3:45, the stadium had received 3.17” of rain. The [Baby Cakes] were on the field, playing by 7:30 with compliments from the Pacific Coast League and its umpires.”
– Thomas Marks, Head Groundskeeper, New Orleans Baby Cakes
“You may or may not remember this project. We just got the product installed last week and had 1.5” of rain last night. The tiles worked great. They seemed to definitely cut of the supply of water running across our infield. We should see a big improvement next season.”
“We are located in NE Lancashire between Blackburn, Burnley, and Accrington. We are an FA Community Club and were Charter Standard founder members in 2001. We currently have 29 teams of boys, girls, and adults aged from 5 to 40+.
In December 2017, we signed a 25-year lease (including an option for a further 25) for Heymoor Farm playing fields, which meant we became the custodian of 4 purpose-built football pitches and a fantastic new headquarters that includes changing facilities, a coach education suite and a host of other amenities. The playing field is located on the Great Harwood Show site on the edge of our town in very picturesque surroundings.
The location is great and the pavilion that is under construction will be first class, but ultimately, we are most pleased by the quality of our 4 football pitches. We have pitches that accommodate 5, 7, 9, and 11 per side formats. The pitches were constructed by Turfdry Ltd who were appointed by the Developer who managed this element of a much bigger local project. There were some real challenges facing Turfdry including our notoriously wet local weather and the layout of the site. To say we are delighted with the results of their labours is an understatement. The rain at times is relentless, but in 10 months on site to date, we have had no postponed games. Every team that visits comments on the fact that we have professional standard pitches and cannot believe how lucky we are. We also have a couple of former Premier League players in our ranks who frequently eulogize about the pitches, saying they are as good as anything they have seen.
The pitches laid by Turfdry which incorporate the Hydraway system have certainly exceeded our
expectations. They are firm and a matter of hours after a deluge you would hardly know there had been any rain that day. We as a Club will ensure that we follow the maintenance schedules outlined by Turfdry and the FA, we know how lucky we are and will invest in our fantastic pitches in the long term.
On behalf of Great Harwood Rovers and our members thank you, Melvyn and the Turfdry Team.”
